Three weeks ago during the mtm-days @ Fere I met Tommaso and Davide of ISAIA.
A few words and pictures of that day…
One of the reasons for my visit was to make an order for a new shirt. So the first thing I did was going through a bunch of fabrics. As normally most of my shirts are light blue or plain white, I decided to look for something a bit bolder. Believe me, not an easy task to make up your mind…

Quality points of Isaia mtm-shirts:
- Hand made buttonholes
- Buttons hand sewn with a coral shape
- Armhole stitched and basted by hand
- Hand sewn mouche used as a little reinforcement
- Handstiched tab at gauntlet used to prevent tears
Finally I ended up choosing pretty dark blue color with medium sized gingham check (third from the top on the picture).
And the details that show the neapolitan tradition of shirt-making and one of the things that will differ my upcoming shirt from the other hanging on my closet.

Suit fabrics:
Finally, I got a full introduction by Davide (and translated by Tommaso) to the process, materials and details of the making an Isaia jacket, beginning from washing the cloth and canvas before cutting it till the finishing of the last little details such the hand made buttonholes and hand sewn buttons.
This is definitely a thing you can’t learn by reading books but something you got to see, listen, learn and feel.
