Scandinavian simplicity combined with Italian craftsmanship - DressLikeA

The GIGI spring and summer 2015

For weekend inspiration taking a look of the spring and summer collection and look book by Italian The GIGI.

Classic transformed into casual

Most of you probably have but to those who haven't the GIGI is a brand by Mario and Pierluigi Boglioli (former owners of brand Boglioli) who with this new label want to experiment, research and to create new innovations in terms of materials, processing techniques and finishes. As said by themselves - new ideas surround us everywhere, yet keen instincts are required to understand them and capture their essence.

In collections The GIGI boldly and smoothly transform traditionally classic clothing such as suits and sport coats into casual setting by innovative fabric treatments, bold patterns and outfits where these pieces are combined with for example sweatshirts, t-shirts and sneakers.

GIGI SS15 - intersection of fashion and architecture

Collection for the season could be described as bold and innovative play with materials, patterns, shapes and form. The collection and look book are pursued by the perceptual expedience in colors together with dimensions both symmetrical and asymmetrical movements that are applied to the classic pieces of men's wardrobe.

The pictures seen in the look book strongly showcase the idea and concept behind The GIGI - at least I dare to claim so -  and present relaxed and modern take on classic menswear, yet done without making any compromises in terms of quality.

Softness, maximum comfort, rough textures and sporty feelings results in a line that is at same time interesting, challenging, creative and distinguishable.  As  mentioned before - these pieces surely are not made for everyone, but I'm sure there are many (me included) that are fond of the idea and look - that cmbines classic and modern lines with garments that are soft, lightweight and  minimally constructed - by The GIGI.

Here are few of my personal favorites but you can see the full look book here.

Finally, I recently got my hands on the suit shown below - featuring a cotton jacket with patch pocket and shawl collar - totally unstructured and unlined. What even more "shocking" those trousers are in fact shorts - making this suit a really summer piece. More about the jacket and shorts coming up - as soon as I get them back from my tailor.
